Mr.Quiffy Collection from House of Holland

Hey Poupidiens,

As promised in my Birthday Pressies article, here is for you a special photoshoot with my fiancé in the Mr.Quiffy  shorts and Tee from House of Holland!

I had an interview last week on Thursday, the weather was amazing back then and the woman I talked to told me that it was the last day of summer! So I decided to enjoy as much as I could this last hot day of the year! Friday was ok and Saturday as well, I did three BBQ’s, three days in a row and I am glad I did because in London the weather and temperature suppose that Autumn has finally arrived! It’s great news for us Fashionistas, it means time to tidy the wardrobe and buy some more clothes! For those who refuse to put your Summer clothes away, like me, it is time to think how to recycle them. Personally I will still wear all my crop tops, probably with others layers of clothes but they will be used for sure. For the others who think about throwing them away please don’t! Go to your nearest H&M store and give them your old clothes, they will give you a £5 voucher to redeem online or in store that you can use when you spend at least £30, think about the planet and don’t let fashion go to waste!20130906-135842.jpg

20130906-135848.jpgTo be back on what we wear, my white crop top is from River Island and his blue pair of shorts is from GAP, anything else you want to know just ask @theapoupidou.

Ps: Don’t miss the S/S14 House of Holland London Fashion Week show!

Loads of love from Quiffy couple, Xxx.

Welcome to the dark side!

As we all know it is Monday morning! Yeaaah, time to start the week on the most positive note possible. What do we need for that? Well it works for me with some Bloc Party – Modern Love.
I know the tittle is not what you would think of when you think of positiveness but it is only a tittle, I can assure you that the content is, as always, full of great stuff! As many people are, I am a huge Darth Vader fan therefore I could not resist sharing with you the latest crush I had. After a long weekend strong in emotions I thought a well deserve rest time on my bed accompanied by my Pinterest app was the best thing to do, maybe I was wrong because this Star Wars Faux Leather-Trimmed Sweatshirt from Forever 21 caught my eyes!
All I can think about right now is how much I want it and inexplicably how much I want a pair of white Converse high tops to wear with!20130901-221609.jpg
Now Monday morning is also time to make comments on something that is working our mind! For me it is a tweet from Vogue that I have read about a week ago. It was about crimping, apparently it is back for the A/W13! It’s not one of the biggest trends of the season but it was very much present at Zac Posen, Rick Owens and Carven, whilst at Derek Lam the hair was plaited to make crimp-like imprints in the hair once they were untied. My mum used to do similar hairstyles to me when I was just a little girl. I love to try new trends on my hair, since I have been living in London I have been blonde, red, ginger, different shades of brown… Almost all the colours you can imagine; so crimped hair why not!? It works for me ,especially at the A/W13 Marios Schwab London Fashion week catwalk show where the models looked stunning!

What do you think, is crimped hair for you? Tweet your answer @theapoupidou!

20130904-110631.jpgAnother one of my style articles! #poupidouishappy. I feel a huge satisfaction when I finalise an article and update it, I feel the same way when I cook something nice. I very often take a picture of it. I have so many pictures of various dishes on my phone you could probably think I am some sort of eating monster! Seriously, today I feel in a Kendrick Lamar mood, I felt this way for a few days. This Californian rapper’s beats seem to be beating in rhythm with my heart beats! I am sure if I share with you one of my favourite tune, you will be feeling the Kendrick vibe just like me, I give it a try: Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools (Drank).

So to be back to my article, here is for you a new style that I was wearing two days ago in a hot London. White is the best color not to feel hot as it reflects the light it will keep you much cooler than a black top which in the opposite will be absorbing the light and so create a huge heat! You might remember my Kimbra T-shirt, I was wearing it in one of my first articles on this blog! I paired it with my H&M white skinny jeans which I am totally in love with at the moment, I actually have another one in pale green. My necklace is from an old collection of River Island, I was also wearing it on the article I gave you the link above. My New Look peep toe heels were worn to emphasise the black drawings from my T-shirt. That is right, it is Kimbra swinging on a tree swing! Recently there were a lot of minimalist styles uploaded on Chictopia, so I wanted to give my minimalist ideas a try!

Hope you like it, if you have anything to say tweet it @theapoupidou!

A mail has arrived… A/W13 Longchamp Bags!

I am an old school girl, I love receiving mails and write memo notes. I feel excited before opening a letter, probably the smell of paper does that to my brain. Not that I am not ecologist on the contrary I like to help the environment but I do like to receive letters, especially handwritten letters from my family or friends, they have so much more value to me than emails.

Before I start to ramble, the point I wanted to make was that I received yesterday in a very nice envelope the new A/W 13 Longchamp bags catalogue. No surprise, I love them all! Nothing to do with the fact that Longchamp is a French brand, maybe only a tiny bit for that reason, but mainly because I love their designs. The girl dancing just above, it is me with my current Longchamp. I got it last Christmas from my fiancé and I am super satisfied with it! It is a practical bag, very solid and which also looks very elegant. Like almost all my friends, I had a few Pliage Longchamp Medium Handbags in different colours to carry my books in high school, if you did not have one at this time then you were not cool! I grew up with many Longchamp bags, I possess a Longchamp bag, and according to the new catalogue I will certainly buy more Lonchamp bags in the future.

Hard to know though if I will go for something classic such as the Red Funtaisy Bag or something really excentric like Le Pliage de Noël. Have a look at them to know what I am talking about:

If you liked them but did not like the color I pick, click on one of the link right under my pic and check if they don’t have it in another color on their website, they have so much choice and they even do pairing shoes for some like for my favourite, the Funtaisy: Funtaisy Derbies!

Following my article about the Leopard pattern coming back on force this winter, you can see through the Longchamp new collection an important animal pattern presence. So it is confirmed, be ready to wear more “RRrrr“!

Loads of love.

Get wild!

Hey people!

Last February the A/W 13 Tom Ford, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Burberry Catwalk shows were sublimely using the Leopard print. It means that we seriously need to think on how we will be wearing it this autumn/winter, because the leopard print is bringing its animal magic back on our clothes and accessories!

Leopard is to me an amazing timeless trend. Every new collection it comes back and surprise us bolder, brighter and sexier! The question we ask ourselves every time is, is it going to be on our next favourite dress or simply on our headphones? I selected for you to figure it out diverse clothes, bags, accessories, shoes all leopard printed. You just need to Widely open your eyes and run to your hight street to buy what is going to be hot this winter!

I went to the Office store on Oxford street about a week ago, the closest to Bond Street station, and they had a special leopard area! I love to wear the leopard print on accessories therefore you can imagine how happy I was when I had all those leopard shoes in front of my eyes! Obviously when I discovered that, it straight away crossed my mind that I needed to do the same on my blog, a special leopard shoes area, let’s start with that!

[It is not in the order but you can find similar shoes at : Office – New Look – Dune – Kurt GeigerSchuh – DKNY – Polyvore. That is where I found my pictures!]

If you are more of a bag lady then DKNY is doing some awesome pieces. If you can not afford DKNY like me but want something of a similar style, New Look, River Island or Mango also do great leopard bags at cheaper prices, between £19,99 and £69,99. I have not checked Primark, Accessorize or even Topshop but I am sure they will have what you are looking for!20130901-153538.jpgNow what really excited me were all the cute accessories I found in my leopard search, from the watch to panties passing by the umbrella, I swear leopard is going to drive us crazy! I thought I had everything I needed until I saw those leopard earrings or this leopard I-phone cover, are they not incredibly cute and trendy?20130901-153545.jpg

If you still aren’t happy with what I showed you there is still a hope… With clothes!20130901-153559.jpg
And because we are still on Poupidou‘s blog we finish by Poupidou’s pick! As the only items I really need to buy for the cold season coming are tops, I picked three cool leopard tops. No need to tell you I will probably buy much more than what I need!20130901-153606.jpg[New Look – Chinti & Parker – River Island]

Ps: Listen to Jay-Z – Tom Ford, my favourite song from his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail!

Hope you all have a lovely week!

French for our ears and our eyes

20130829-205145.jpgHey Poupidiens,

Look at my book, look at my book! I deeply wanted someone to offer me a book about fashion for my birthday and my wish came true! To be honest I am not entirely sure that it was meant to be for my birthday, but it is mine now, mouhaha! It is a great book about 100 years of apparel ads,the 20th century, as you can imagine it is full of beautiful photographs selected in order to document the fashion as it was adopted by the mass culture decade per decade. I am just loving it, I spent 15 minutes just starring at the cover! There are so many brands to discover, plus the text explaining the evolution of the fashion is in three languages so no need to use my brain, I can read in French, Hourra! You might have noticed on the picture that the bottom corner of the book is damaged; the guy that gave it to me got a dog, Baloo, and he obviously fancied chewing the corner of it, I don’t mind! I guess that was his way to participate to the birthday pressie, I love Baloo anyway so we are totally cool.20130829-205140.jpg

Another thing that, figuratively speaking, caught my little ears, Kumisolo with Victime de la mode. I found myself dancing on her J-pop while cooking my dinner. She is a Japanese pop-star who reinvented herself into a freelance musician and cuisine queen in Paris, quite a nice career for her! Of course, when I will be around 35, I will be having an amazing path behind me, just like her. I came across this song by reading the Topshop blog; that is where I took the picture with the coloured cat, it was just too cool for me to leave it there. It took me about an hour before to realise that Kumisolo is in fact singing a very popular French song from the 90’s, Victime de la mode originally sung by Mc Solaar. That explained why I loved the lyrics, but “bravo!” to Kumisolo who made it interesting in her own way!

Hope you enjoyed. Loads of love, Xxx

Birthday pressies

Hello my Poupidien,

We are more than a week after my birthday actually happened, it is about time I show you what pressies I got! For those who wonder, I am 22. I can’t believe that I have already 22 years behind me! When I was 15 I thought 22 was the best age because the two “2” looks cool together and because it is not too old or not too young. There is no cool age really, as long as you have what you want in your life any age is great, I wish sometimes I could go back to my 15 and change a few details though! If I keep talking I will probably start having wrinkles on my face before I even said what were my presents. The first I opened was my Tatty Devine necklace, with guess what written on it?!! “Poupidou”, isn’t that awesome? And in pink I mean have a look at the picture I think it is clearly the best present ever! The second present was from House of Holland, an English Fashion label really cool launched in 2008 by Henry Holland. I had the short from their Mr.Quiffy collection and I love it! I didn’t want to put any picture of it yet as my awesome fiancé, Jeff, won one of their Mr.Quiffy Tees ! I could not believe it, they even put his name on the article talking about their pop-up store on Monmouth Street, seven dials where he bought my shorts, have a look that makes him kind of famous, haha! After a long reflexion about what size we should order it in, and in other terms who would have it, I decided that he could have it, after all, he won it, but that he would have to be doing a House of Holland themed photoshoot with me! I can’t wait for the photoshoot, we are ordering the T-shirt tomorrow so it could be anytime next week. Last but obviously not least my third present was not a material present, I had the honour to be punting along the Cambridge River. Thankfully, Jeff was doing all the work I just had to relax and take some pictures of the beautiful university buildings from the other end of the boat! It was such a romantic birthday. I made some duck friends, I had a fabulous picnic under the rain and all that wearing my cute pink peach wellies matching my pink Poupidou Tatty Devine necklace! I did a vine of my wet picnic to share it with you but also mainly so I can always remember this special birthday.

Loads of kisses and love, see you soon and enjoy my Cambridge photos!

Ps: Now that my birthday, my fiancé’s birthday, Notting Hill Carnival and almost all the festivals have passed, summer is officially finished in my mind, I want cold weather and rain every day from now on!
